How to Diagnose & Replace the Front and Side Motor Mounts - 2002 Acura TL-S -- Honda Accord

Описание к видео How to Diagnose & Replace the Front and Side Motor Mounts - 2002 Acura TL-S -- Honda Accord

Demonstrated on a 2002 Acura TL-S, this video will show you how to diagnose and then replace both the front and side engine mounts. This has been one of the more timely and difficult jobs I've done. It took about 6 hours for the front and 3 hours for the side mount. Of course, I was both figuring everything out and filming. So hopefully this video can save you a ton of time and stress!

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW!
- Place a piece of wood between the jack and oil pan when supporting the engine
- You will need a universal joint/swivel socket adapter to remove the rear passenger side bolt on the front motor mount

The most difficult parts were:
- Removing the rear passenger side bolt from the front motor mount
- Removing the lower passenger side bolt from the front bracket
- Removing the front orange electrical connector from the cruise control bracket
- Everything is a tight squeeze. Removing and installing the exhaust manifold cover, front mount, front bracket bolts, side mount, and side bracket was all rather difficult and took some time to maneuver them in and out.

Some signs of bad motor mounts can include excessive jerking, shuddering, clunking, knocking, or chirping sounds during gear changes and acceleration. This can be visualized by having one person stand outside the vehicle and another person inside the vehicle who holds the brake and taps the accelerator at the same time.

After installing my new motor mounts, the clunking and jerking of the engine are now gone. I haven't really noticed a difference when idling in park, stopped at an intersection, or cruising once I'm up to speed. The main difference I've noticed was during acceleration and gear changing. The vehicle now feels much more responsive and smooth since there's no more play in the engine mounts, and there's no more jerking when accelerating from a standstill. It's also more comforting to know I no longer have broken motor mounts and don't have to be so careful about accelerating too hard from a standstill.
