I am fired up today as we wrap up the last three episodes of our turnover series. Today we're talking about just as a whole, the idea of the recruiting phase of slaying the turnover dragons. So there's three phases, recruiting employees, onboarding, and then retaining.

When you think about recruiting or trying to get a date, right? You're out there and you just wanna connect with someone. It's the same with employers. You have a need and you wanna connect with people, right?

You can go out on all kinds of dating apps and let the algorithms figure it out and it may work and it may not. What I think is more effective is a referral bonus. You can put your job on all kinds of job boards and throw a lot of money into that. Or you can ask your existing employees who know your company and your company culture and also know potential candidates and they can play matchmaker. And if they do a good job at matchmaker, you give them money.

First thing I want you to do  is think about some kind of referrals, in your dating or in your turnover recruiting process. 

Second thing is I want you to make it easy, you want to be the most accommodating employer out there. One of the ways in the business realm you do this, any job under $20 an hour, keep that commute under 10 minutes. Make it easy. The longer you make that commute, the more likely that relationship is not going to work.  

The third thing is figure out their why.  Who are they? What makes 'em tick? Why do they want a job right now? What are they looking for in life? The more you can drill down on that, the more you can figure out is this a fit?

People love to share their experience. They love to be heard. In dating, if you are a good listener, that goes a long way. We want to be seen. We want to be heard. Be attentive. Figure out their why.

 Woo them.  Be charming. Be funny. You can bring out personality in the employee recruitment process. It's okay to be human beings, right? We've kinda lost that in this age of AI, we wanna all be robots. Beep boop beep boop beep beep wish I could do the robot better. And then the last thing is,  wow them.  What makes your company different? Wow them with what you have. What makes your company unique? Hey, we do this cookout on Friday. Hey, we have an employee Christmas party every year and we all get bonuses. Don't try to be everybody else. Be uniquely you.

If you ask others who might be a good fit, if you make it easy for the other person, if you figure out their why, if you woo them and wow them, you are going to have a shot for that next date, for that next level, which that next level is onboarding in the business sense.

Go out there. Don't get discouraged because you're not all that and there's some people who offer more. Just be uniquely you and know that there are people out there who will love that just the way it is. Thanks for joining me today.
