Welcome to the e-course on VVM-based vaccine management!
You might think that a nine-week course is too much for something so small as VVM.
Yes, VVM is small but makes big things happen, that is how we call it the "little big
thing".
VVM shows if the administered vaccines have not been damaged by heat
VVM helps to reduce the vaccine wastage
VVM facilitates immunization outreach and increases access and coverage
VVM makes it easy to pinpoint cold chain problems
VVM helps you to manage vaccine stocks
VVM helps to prevent accidental freezing of vaccines
In addition, VVM also gives you hints as to whether you can keep an opened
multi-dose vial for a subsequent immunization session.
All these said, the course such as the one we offer is needed to ensure that we use
the VVM effectively and fully benefit from its potential.
We invite you to learn within a sophisticated interactive simulation of a vaccine
supply chain. For 9 weeks, you will travel virtually through different levels of the
vaccine supply chain. The authentic tasks we offer take place at international
arrival, storage, in-country distribution of vaccines, health centre level, and
outreach. These tasks are arranged mainly as group activities. You'll benefit a lot
from this collaborative learning. We offer you the tools to easily connect with other
participants so you can discuss and work together as a team. You will be able to
work with real VVMs and observe how they react to different temperature scenarios
throughout the course. Within this unique learning environment we assess our
learning by self, peer, and expert reviews. There will be no tick the right answer
type tests.
Most importantly, nobody will lecture you in our course... but we'll make available to
you all the resources that have been specifically produced for this course, including
the video and document library.
Together with my colleagues Julie, Ticky and Denis we'll provide timely feedback to
you whenever necessary and be there to assist you.
