How to Check Temperature / Fever at Home Using a Mercury Thermometer | Normal Value

Learn how to check temperature or fever at home by using a mercury thermometer. Shake the thermometer to get mercury level well below the red line. Then put it in your armpit or in the mouth below the tongue for about 3 minutes. Then check the reading as shown. Mercury level should be below the red line. Once it is above the red line, it means you are having fever.

Red line is at 98.6 degree Fahrenheit or 37 degree Celcius. Below red line is normal temperature. Above red line is fever. Human temperature is usually measured in Fahrenheit units.
