Lumbar slip disc, also known as disc herniation or disc prolapse, is very common in athletes and sports persons such as cricketers, footballers, kabaddi players and gym athletes. This happens mainly due to repetitive stress on the spine, heavy training, weight lifting and sudden twisting or impact injuries during sports.
