Over the 2022/23 Season, Cherry has captained the University of Nottingham 1st XV Rugby through their maiden season in BUCS Super Rugby. Starting at 8, and playing every minute of every game, it has been a successful season for Cherry, being awarded the BUCS Super Rugby Fans Player of the Year while also being selected for the Team of the Year and gaining votes in the Coaches player of the year award. This culminated in a selection for the England students side, where cherry started and was instrumental in the sides 25-21 win over a French side that hadn’t lost at home in 17 years. Cherry also won the 1st XV players’ player of the year award within the rugby club, which he gained alongside the University wide Sportsman of the Year award.
