Chancellor Rachel Reeves says she still has full confidence in Prime Minister Keir Starmer and that people across the UK will feel the positive impact of economic changes heading into 2026.

In a year-end interview, Reeves commented on speculation about Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham returning to Westminster in a possible challenge to Starmer's leadership, suggesting that staying in Manchester "is the right thing to do."

The chancellor added she is "optimistic" about the economy following measures taken in the budget and an interest rate cut decision from the Bank of England.
