Chorus:
Stand up my friend.
Be strong now, be firm.
It was said by the wise Jamaican.
Get up, stand up.

Verse 1:
Are you weary with your life's routine?
There're still a lot of songs we have to sing.
Don't stop, don't quit.
Don't let life end this way.
A hand will carry you along the way.

Verse 2:
Are you worried with uncertainties?
I'll give you sticks of hope to keep life's beat.
Don't cease, just rock.
Don't let fate end this way.
A band will be with you along the way.

--------

Written sometime in 2008, this song was meant to advise a friend, who at one point in his life thought of committing suicide to escape great sorrow and suffering.

He was one of the renowned drummers in our town then. Despite suffering a lower limb paralysis caused by polio disease, he was very talented at drums. He was carried by friends or bandmates on back to play in gigs, battles of the bands, and musical performances in and out of the town.

Later, his health condition had deteriorated and hindered him from playing the drums well. His legs and arms had weakened so much that he could no longer kick the bass drum pedal or snap the clappers and cymbals skillfully as before. Greatly saddened by this, he thought of ending his life.

Fortunately, my friend did not pursue the bad thought. He continued life despite disability and pitiable condition. He shifted from playing drums to piano and started writing songs. He also mentored and influenced newbie bands and musicians.

He weathered the storms and fought the battles in life with his love for music as his armor.

Rock in paradise, MgyCore Legend, BJay Dominguez! Thanks for the great memories, Ogim!
