Three types of fruit found in nature viz:
1. Simple fruit
2. Aggregate fruit
3. Composite fruit
Simple fruits are further divided into two types on the basis of differentiation of pericarp. In Simple Dry fruits, the pericarps are undiffrentiated while in simple succulent fruit pericarp is well diffrentiated into epicarp mesocarp and endocarp.
Achenial, capsular, schizocarpic, berry, drupe, pome are subtypes of fruit.
