Hanuman means?

In Sanskrit, 'Hanu' means 'Jaw,' and 'Man' means 'Disfigured.' His jaw was disfigured by Lord Indra's vajra during his childhood misadventure, where he attempted to capture the sun, mistaking it for a ripened mango.

​Apsara's son​

Hanuman's mother, Anjana, was an apsara in God Indra's court, cursed to be born as a vanara on Earth. Her curse could only be lifted if she gave birth to Lord Shiva's incarnation, leading to her birth as a vanara princess and marriage to Kesari.

The sage's curse

In his mischievous childhood, Hanuman would often trouble sages. Teasing a meditating sage led to a curse, making him forget his divine powers. Only through the reminder from Jambhavantha did Hanuman recall his abilities during the search for Sita Mata.
