"My nose tried pulling that stormcloud scent closer to me as I started walking down the sidewalk, and
after looking over my shoulder, I started walking into the street. I heard it sprinkle down into the trees, giving all
the leaves their salvation they tossed and turned for, and then it came down on the street. Immediately, my
eyelids started batting and I wondered how she managed to stand so long in it. I looked up and experienced that
hyperspace tunnel of rain, which was enchanting to look at but almost impossible to enjoy because of how my
face was punished for being raised into the storm. I brought my face back to level and looked ahead. It was
perfect that no headlights broke the curtain of the storm. It was a gentle storm, the kind that has lacey lazy
curtains of grey and silvery raindrops. Even if she is a hallucination, so be it, I thought. I just want to see her
again, I thought, and this thought was more so a prayer to the storm, instead of a thought to file in my mind,
one of those silly human thoughts we mail to things that cannot respond. "
