Sheosar Lake Deosai Plains Skardu | A heaven in the heart of Himalayas Gilgit-Baltistan

Deosai Plains or Deosai National Park is a must visit place when visiting Skardu, and Sheosar Lake is heart of Deosai. Sheosar means ‘andhi’ (blind) in local language. This lake is one of the highest lakes in the world and pure blue water, with snow-capped mountains in backdrop, and greenery with wild flower and funa in foreground offer such a view in summers that one is left amused for the rest of his life.

In clear weather, the killer mountain Nanga Parbat can also be seen from Sheosar Lake and if you are lucky and Sheosar Lake is calm then you can also see might Nanga Parbat's reflection in lake as well.

You can easily visit Sheosar Lake from Skardu, A full day trip is recommended to visit Deosai Plains from Skardu, road condition of Deosai Plains is rough and only 4x4 / SUVs recommended.

You can also go to Deosai Plains from Astore, Sheosar Lake will come first when you reach the top of Deosai Plains from Astore side.

Best season to visit Skardu and Deosai National Park is July to September, full greenery and flowers can be found in mid July to mid August.
