Conservancy Biologist Ian Easterling performs a necropsy on a Burmese python caught in the field by our Science Department's invasive species research and removal team. This animal dissection process is a very important step in gathering analytical data for our research.

Since 2013, the Conservancy and research partners have been conducting radio telemetry fieldwork to document Burmese python biology and behavior in Southwest Florida.

A primary objective is to develop a database of behavior and habitat uses to better understand invasive Burmese python activities in Southwest Florida. This information will be used to help land managers to develop a management strategy for this invasive species.
