Animal cells have irregular shapes. They contain a nucleus, cell membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria, and ribosomes.
Mitochondria are known as the powerhouses of the cell. They contain enzymes for aerobic respiration and this is where most energy is released from respiration.
The nucleus contains genetic material. This controls the cell's activities.
Endoplasmic reticulum: fine network of interconnected tubules, a reticulum; hence, the name "endoplasmic reticulum" (ER). Role: cell circulation.
Microtubules are polymers of tubulin that form part of the cytoskeleton and provide structure and shape to eukaryotic cells.
The cytoplasm is a jellylike material that contains nutrients, salts and other membrane bound organelles. Many chemical reactions also occur in the cytoplasm.
The cell membrane controls the movement of substances that go in and out of the cell
Ribosomes are small organelles found in the cytoplasm where protein synthesis occurs.
The Golgi apparatus, also known as the Golgi complex, Golgi body, or simply the Golgi, is an organelle found in most eukaryotic cells. Play role in cell secretion.
lysosomes are membranous organelles. Play role in breakdown cellular wastes and suicidal bags of the cell.
A centrosome is a cellular structure involved in the process of cell division.
