Flex G folds in a “G-shape,” with two inward hinges that transform a pocketable 7.2-inch handset into a 12.4-inch tablet-class canvas. Its flexible OLED stack combines ultra-thin glass (UTG) and a water-drop hinge profile to minimise crease visibility while supporting 200 k fold cycles. Oxide-TFT backplanes enable a 1-to-120 Hz variable-refresh LTPO drive scheme, cutting power draw by up to 30 % without introducing low-frequency flicker, and maintaining full DCI-P3 gamut coverage under Samsung’s Synchroma colour management.

Flex Z takes a different route: one segment folds inward, the other outward, creating a Z-shaped spine that can stand on a desk for video calls, unfurl into a wide 10-inch landscape for productivity, or close into a narrow bar-style phone for one-hand use. The dual-direction hinge locks into multiple angles, and a revised UTG-Plus cover layer keeps thickness under 6 mm when unfolded while preserving touchscreen latency and S-Pen compatibility. Although still a concept, Samsung Display confirmed that the hinge mechanism has cleared internal reliability testing for mass-production readiness in Korea.

The booth’s “Next Formfactor with AI” zone set these foldables alongside a 25 %-stretchable panel and the single-glass “UT One” OLED, which is 30 % thinner yet supports 1 Hz idle refresh. Together they illustrate Samsung Display’s roadmap toward lighter, low-power mobile screens built for on-device generative-AI workflows, hinting that commercial Flex-series devices could emerge as early as the 2026 cycle if partner-brand validation stays on schedule.
