Frances Shea was young, attractive, and had everything to live for, but her life is remembered as one of the saddest tales of the 1960s.

When I recently visited the final resting place of the Kray family at Chingford Cemetery I had initially intended to cover the family story including Frances – but on reflection, the story of Frances was so far removed from the rest of the Kray family – Frances was a Kray by marriage and a Shea by birth – and it is believed that in her final note to her family, it was her birth name that she requested to be on her headstone.

However, that was not to be – the story of Frances is a real-life modern Gothic tale and I invite you to join me at Chingford Cemetery to take flowers and remember the life of this beautiful young woman who was by all accounts, bright and intelligent and who began with such a promising start but whose life was to end in such tragic circumstances
