കൊണാർക്ക് സൂര്യ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൻ്റെ വിസ്മയകരമായ അത്ഭുതക്കാഴ്ചകൾ |

ഒഡീസയിലെ കൊണാർക് സൂര്യക്ഷേത്രത്തിനെ കുറിച്ച് ഉള്ള പുരാണ കഥ അനുസരിച്ച് ക്ഷേത്രം നിർമ്മിച്ചത് ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണന്റെ പുത്രനായ സാംബൻ ആണ്. ഗംഗവംശത്തിലെ രാജാവായിരുന്ന നരസിംഹദേവൻ ഒന്നാമൻ ആണ് ക്ഷേത്രം നിർമ്മിച്ചത് എന്നാണ് ചരിത്രം.

ചരിത്രപരവും പൗരാണികവുമായി ഏറെ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള ഈ സൂര്യക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ പൂജകളോ മറ്റ് ആചാരങ്ങളോ ഒന്നും നടക്കുന്നില്ല.
The Konark Sun Temple, also known as the Surya Devalaya, is a 13th-century Hindu temple dedicated to the Sun God, Surya. Located in Konark, Odisha, this architectural marvel was built by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty around 1250 CE12.

The temple is designed as a colossal chariot with 12 pairs of intricately carved stone wheels and seven horses, symbolizing the chariot of the Sun God. The temple’s artwork includes detailed carvings, iconography, and themes, including scenes from daily life and mythological tales.

Despite much of the temple being in ruins, it remains a significant cultural and historical site, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 19841. The Konark Sun Temple is also depicted on the reverse side of the Indian 10-rupee note, highlighting its importance to India’s cultural heritage.

The Legend of Samba: According to Hindu mythology, Samba, the son of Lord Krishna, was cursed with leprosy. To seek a cure, he performed rigorous penance and worshipped the Sun God, Surya, for 12 years at Maitreyavana, the ancient name of Konark. Pleased with his devotion, Surya cured Samba of his ailment. In gratitude, Samba built the Sun Temple at Konark to honor the Sun God.
The Construction Mystery: Another legend speaks of the temple’s construction. It is said that the temple was built by 1,200 artisans over 12 years. However, they were unable to place the crown stone at the top of the temple. The king threatened to execute the chief architect, Bisu Maharana, if the temple was not completed on time. Bisu’s young son, Dharmapada, who was a prodigy, arrived at the site and successfully placed the crown stone. However, fearing that his success would lead to the death of the artisans (as they would be seen as incompetent), Dharmapada sacrificed himself by jumping into the river.
