In the climax of Cars 2 (2011), Mater, the rusty tow truck everyone underestimated finally exposes the truth. He connects the dots, calls out Sir Miles Axlerod in front of everyone, and proves that he was the one behind the cars exploding. Axlerod had been sabotaging Allinol the whole time, trying to make alternative fuel look dangerous so the world would go back to using oil, his oil.
Sheriff Doakes would’ve lost his mind.

About our Editing Process:
Since many viewers have asked how this edit/Doakes edits are made, here’s a brief overview of the process behind it.
Starting in Premiere Pro, the opening scene was shortened and restructured for better pacing and clarity, involving cuts not present in the original. It combines multiple video sources rather than relying on a single scene, and each clip was cut and arranged to create a new flow and meaning distinct from the original film.
Narratively, the edit transforms the original Cars 2 climax into a new story with added meaning. By transitioning from Mater’s face to Doakes, the edit reframes Mater’s revelation as a parallel to Doakes’s awareness of Dexter, two figures who uncover the truth but are dismissed until proven right.
The original scene audio is still present but was heavily modified. Many shots contained background music and unwanted artefacts that had to be removed. For example, several close-up scenes in Cars 2 had the film’s score playing underneath dialogue, which clashed with the new soundtrack. Using Premiere Pro’s audio enhancer and parametric EQ tools, that score was removed while preserving natural sound effects like the car engines. Achieving this required detailed frequency adjustments and multiple passes to isolate the clean SFX.
The main background track, “Poster Boy” by 2hollis, was also remixed specifically for the edit. The song’s drop originally came in too early to fit the pacing of the scenes, so the track was cut into bars and extended by matching each section precisely to the waveform. The structure was rearranged so the drop aligned perfectly with the visual timing and transitions. This remix was built entirely for this video and does not exist anywhere else, making it an original version of the song unique to this edit.
The sound mix was balanced through a full normalisation process. Volume levels for dialogue, sound effects, and music were adjusted to stay consistent at around 0 dB. This involved ducking the music and manually keyframing volume to ensure dialogue and ambient sounds remained clear and balanced throughout.
Toward the end of the edit, a voice-cloning tool was used to make Mater deliver new lines not found in any version of the film. These lines were created and recorded specifically for this project, adding original dialogue that enhances the storytelling and gives the scene a fresh narrative twist.
Once the audio work was complete, the project was transferred to After Effects for visual finishing. This stage included transitions, zooms, camera pans, flashes, and animated text effects. The main transition alone took over five hours, using more than 30 layers of masks and frame-by-frame compositing. Several shots required roto-brushing elements from different sources and stitching them together seamlessly in one frame.
The completed sequence was exported to Topaz for upscaling and enhancement. It was deblurred, denoised, sharpened, and restored to 4K before being re-imported into After Effects for final colour correction and tone matching.
In total, the edit took over 25 hours of work and involved more than 200 layers. It is a fully original, high-effort, and transformative project that reinterprets existing material into something new.
This video is within the guidelines for YouTube's channel monetisation policies, as are all my videos on my channel, which have required the same, if not more, amount of work.
