Kathryn takes us around Centennial Hills, which is a newer master-planned community in northwest Las Vegas. The community is bounded on the west by the Red Rock Canyon Preservation Area and offers easy access to both I-95 and I-215. Centennial Hills is about 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip and a great community for anyone looking to live farther away from the busy Strip and downtown area while remaining close enough to commute or visit at your leisure.
Centennial Hills covers about 56 square miles and offers condos and townhomes as well as single-family, semi-custom, and luxury custom homes. Thanks to the community’s scenic location, many of the homes in Centennial Hills offer beautiful views of the foothills and vibrant red rocks. Whether you’re looking for a small home, new construction, or vacant lot, you can find it in this fast-growing northwest corner of the Las Vegas Valley.
This family-friendly neighborhood offers numerous parks, amenities, and outdoor recreation opportunities. The community’s main Centennial Park features picnic areas, dog runs, sand volleyball courts, soccer fields, water play areas, walking paths, an amphitheater, and plenty of open green space. This 120-acre park is one of the largest in Las Vegas and a great place to enjoy a beautiful day or host an event.
Centennial Hills is also just 15 minutes from Floyd Lamb State Park and Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument. The 680-acre Floyd Lamb Park is filled with wildlife, vegetation, lakes, and views of the Sheep and Spring Mountain Ranges. Tule Springs offers one of the best Ice Age fossil sites in North America. Centennial Hills’ location is also the best in the valley for easy access to the Mount Charleston ski resort, just 35 minutes west of the community.
Centennial Hills residents enjoy a wide range of amenities with membership at the YMCA-operated Community Center. The Center features two outdoor swimming pools with water slides, two indoor pools, two gymnasiums, aerobics studio, cardio/weight room, computer lounge, craft room, kitchen, and childcare facilities. The Community Center also offers active adult centered activities, including exercise and education classes, card games, and social events.
Centennial Hills is home to the Centennial Center shopping plaza, a 110-acre town center that offers a variety of retail stores, movie theaters, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The town center also includes Centennial Hills Hospital and the Centennial Hills Library. For golf enthusiasts, the community is close to three courses – Painted Desert, Silverstone Golf Club, and the Paiute Golf Resort. Although this is a quiet, low-key neighborhood, residents enjoy numerous conveniences located close to home, as well as additional world-class entertainment and shopping with a short drive to Las Vegas or the downtown Summerlin area.
Northwest Las Vegas is a great area for first time homebuyers, as prices tend to be lower than in many other areas closer to the Strip. Centennial Hills condos and vacant lots are priced starting in the mid $200,000s, with single-family homes starting in the upper $300,000s. Buyers can also find luxury homes in Centennial Hills for up to about $4 million. HOA fees range widely from as low as $12 per month to close to $200 for condos and townhomes in complexes featuring additional amenities and services.
