69 years ago today, New Zealand’s, Sir Edmund Hillary, and Nepal’s, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, became the first people to scale Mount Everest.

Everest Day is a celebration of their incredible achievement, one many have tried to follow since. One person who has managed to follow in the footsteps of Sir Hillary and Sherpa is adventurer and UW brand ambassador, Ben Fogle.

He prepared for years, training himself physically and mentally for the journey. However, with his oxygen mask malfunctioning so close to the summit, it nearly never happened for Ben.
