Menstrual Cycle: The menstrual cycle is a series of hormonal changes that prepare the body for pregnancy. It typically lasts about 28 days, although the duration can vary. The cycle involves the maturation and release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation) and the thickening of the uterine lining in preparation for a potential pregnancy. If fertilization does not occur, the uterine lining is shed during menstruation.
