This is a video recording of the Antiochian Men Retreat Session that took place during the 2022 DOMSE Parish Life Conference in Memphis, TN. Fr. Stephen Freeman, Pastor Emeritus at St. Anne Orthodox Church in Oak Ridge, TN, was the featured guest speaker for this event. The full title of Fr. Stephen's talk was "Hungry, Thirsty, Stranger, Naked, Sick, and in Prison: The Secret Life of Shame." This talk by Fr. Stephen was given at the Hilton Memphis Hotel on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

There is an inner world that men generally hide within themselves. American culture has been described as "driven by shame where shame is never discussed." This is especially true in male culture. St. Sophrony said that "the way of shame is the way of the Lord." This talk helps us to look at how we can understand this contradiction and discover the depths of meaning we hide from one another.
