The hill station is located at a height of about 12,440 feet above sea level. Since it lies in the alpine regions, the pass is covered in snow most of the year.

The best time to visit Sinthan Top is in summer when the weather is pleasant and roads are accessible as well. In winter, heavy snowfall is experienced at the pass, making road trips almost impossible.

The Sinthan Top is at a distance of about 130 kilometres from Srinagar, taking around 5-6 hours. You can visit here from other major towns of Kashmir as well. From Kishtawar, it is around 80 kilometres away and roughly 73 kilometres from Anantnag.
