The bite improved over the last week as the stripers leave for the winter. There are no signs of big perch yet, but they are on their way up the coast. The swell was larger than the past few weeks because of a small storm that moved through, making it difficult to land the smelt. I caught a few off-camera and lost at least 10. I had to switch to the Carolina rig to get a better hookset.

I started with a 1/2oz Kastmaster, then switched to a 1.5oz Carolina rig with a size 2 hook + a 2" swimbait.
