In this video, we are going to update Xampp to upgrade the PHP version to PHP 8 that will also support Laravel 9 and other latest PHP frameworks.

We are going to update Xampp for MAC OS and you can also follow the same steps for Windows and other OS.

Steps to Update Xampp for PHP 8 and Laravel 9 -

1) Backup Files from htdocs folder
The first step is to take the backup of htdocs folder that is located inside the xampp folder and contains all the websites.

2) Export the Databases
The next step is to export all the databases from the PHPMyadmin

3) Uninstall XAMPP
The next step is to uninstall XAMPP that we can do from the Control Panel. Once we start the uninstall process, XAMPP will ask to keep the htdocs file. Since we have already exported the files, choose not to keep them.

4) Download & Install the New Version
The last step is to download the new and latest version from https://www.apachefriends.org/index.html as per the OS we are using.

5) Move Backup to new Xampp
The last step is to move back up that we have taken earlier to the new Xampp. We will move all websites to the new Xampp htdocs folder and import all databases to the PHPMyadmin.
