I got a small exhaust leak by the exhaust manifold on my 2000 Toyota Celica causing the engine light to come on with P0171 code. The car was running lean. I did not able to find a video on Youtube to show me how to remove the exhaust manifold. There was one the person removed the engine cover to make space to get the exhaust manifold out. I was not about to take off the engine cover because this would probably create another issue like oil leak if not properly sealed. So I have decided to drop the engine slightly see if there was enough space to allow me to fish out the intake manifold and the heat shield covers. It actually worked. After I separated one engine mount by the belt area, the engine did dropped a few inches allowing me to remove the exhaust manifold and replaced the required exhaust gaskets. Here's the video and I hope it helps you with your repair. This probably works for Toyota Corolla, Matrix, Pontiac Vibe or any vehicle with similar set up.
