During a documentary trip to film the state of the church forests in Bahir Dar, I spent a precious two hours meeting with the women of this monastery. Dr. Meg Lowman (www.treefoundation.org) has been working with the women to bolster a sustainable livelihood - allowing them to continue good works in their community. It was an unexpectedly beautiful story that grew out of the church forest conservation effort for northern Ethiopia. This is quite a raw and experiential piece about this continuing relationship.
