Here are the recipes for this DIY Pantry Mixes to save you time and money!

Homemade Rice a Roni
To each jar add:

½ cup spaghetti pieces
¾ cup white rice
½ t salt
1t garlic

To use: Brown 2T of butter in a sauce pan. Add mix an let spaghetti noodle pieces and rice brown slightly. Add 1 ¾ cup broth, any flavor or a combo of water & bouillon flavor of choice. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes or until liquid is absorbed and rice is soft. Adjust seasonings to taste.

Cream Soup Mix
2 cups powdered milk
¾ cup cornstarch
2t onion powder
dash of pepper

Put all ingredients into a large jar or other container. Stir or shake to mix well.

Add bouillon or homemade broth when making it.. beef, chicken, vegetable

Add 1/3 cup of mix to 1 ¼ cups your choice of broth, either store bought or homemade. You can also add just water and your choice of bouillon to add your desired flavor. Simmer and stir until thickened. Can also be mixed together and then added to casseroles and will thicken as it cooks.

Sauteed onions, mushrooms, celery can also be added for flavor.

Instant Oatmeal Mix
20 cups quick cooking oats
2 cup powdered milk
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1 tablespoon salt

Take about half of the oats and run them through a blender or food processor to make them smaller… you don’t want flour though! Then mix with the rest of the ingredients. I put this in gallon size jar for storage. This is much easier to use with a big family than little packets. Little packets of things just do not work at my house! For serving we do not really measure this. We scoop out some and put in a bowl. Cover it with boiling water and let it sit for a minute or so. Then mix in honey, maple syrup, dried fruit, milk or anything that you normally enjoy with oatmeal

Small Batch (that I made in the video)

5 cups quick oats
½ cup powdered milk
½ T or 1 ½ t cinnamon
¾ t salt

Muffin Mix
You can find the large batch of muffin mix recipe on my blog:
https://homesteadinghomemaker.blogspo...

Small Batch (that I made on the video):
4 ½ cups flour
1 ¼ cups sugar
1/3 cup powdered milk
4 ½ t baking powder
1 ½ t baking soda
1 ½ t salt
2 ¼ t cinnamon
¾ t nutmeg

Hamburger Helper Mix Recipe
To each jar of mix add:

1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Cornstarch
1/3 cup powdered milk
1-1/2 c. uncooked elbow macaroni

Mix will store for 6 months to a year.
To prepare, brown 1 lb. ground beef(***See note below).

My directions... brown 1 lb ground beef, add jar of ingredients and 3 cups water.. simmer until macaroni is soft & cooked. Adjust seasonings to taste. Top with cheese if you would like to.

***To save money you can use less ground beef. You can also add beans for some of the hamburger. Use ½ pound cooked hamburger then add 1 ¼ cups cooked beans of your choice. For a meatless version use 2 ½ cups of cooked beans of your choice.
