NOAA forecasts warmer-than-average temperatures for most of the US in the coming weeks, with only the far northern tier expected to remain near or just below normal. This, combined with rainfall, especially in the Midwest and Northeast, will likely result in a decrease in snow cover.
While it's too early to predict any potential storm systems next week, the odds of a white Christmas look slim for most areas. History shows that the chances are less than 50% for most of the Lower 48. If you're dreaming of a white Christmas, your best bet is to head to ski resorts in the West or northern New England, or cities like Marquette and Duluth, which have high probabilities based on historical data.
