Hello Guys, Namaste, welcome back to androtrix, Xiaomi has seemed to surprise everyone with its new phone, the Mi A1. It is the company's first phone running on stock Android. This smartphone is in collaboration with Google Android One project where they wanted to reach out the mass audience and give them the stock Android experience. Even though everything sounds just right, there are few drawbacks of this device which I'll mention in this video!
So let's get started.

Fast Charger - The Mi A1 does not have any kind of fast charging technology present in it and takes more than 2 hrs to charge. The phone comes with a 5 Volt/ 2 Ampere charging adaptor out of the box which charges the phone very slowly. This is just my personal opinion as being a OnePlus 5 user, this becomes quite inconvenient for me as I have to wait for more time for the phone to charge than I'm used to.

Lack of OIS - It is amazing that the MIA1 has capabilities to capture 4k video recording but as there is no OIS or EIS in the 4k recording. It is very inconvenient to use it as the video would not be stable at all.

RGB LED!
This is one tiny detail which irritates me a lot! MiA1 doesn't have RGB LED on the top of the smartphone. It has only one light with white color and it bothers me a lot. After using Moto G5 plus, OnePlus 3t/5, I'm used to getting information like is it a missed call, WhatsApp message, facebook notification just by looking at that light. But here it's just one single white light without any tweaks.

Navigation bar lights.

The navigation bar has the backlit option which is amazing but again there is no option to turn it off. It is really annoying to have that light in the dark at late night. A simple toggle to turn it off would have been much better and I know you might think I'm taking it far but such stupid points but when you use the device you'll know how irritating it is.


Battery capacity - The Mi A1 has a 3080 mAh battery. This is less than the battery capacity on the Moto G5S+ and the Lenovo K8 Note which are the major competitors to the phone at the price point. I haven't actually tested the battery very well as I use OnePlus 5 as a secondary device for all my media consumption but a lot of people out there buy the device just by looking at the specs and this could be one of the drawbacks of people not buying this device. Also, I will test out the battery and come up with the full review of the MiA1 pretty soon so stay tuned!


Availability -
Xiaomi has made the Mi A1 available offline as well as online. However, the phone is extremely hard to get in flash sales and is not available offline in various areas. I have come across a lot of friends who wants to buy the device but due to lack of availability, they end up buying something else. Well In the end, what good is a phone if you can't even manage to buy it!

Lack of MIUI - To the Fans of MIUI which I believe exists in a huge number, the stock Android may be a problem to have on this device. I have seen many people who love MIUI as it offers many unique features such as setting up duplicate apps, support for themes, lack of apps menu etc. Due to which, they may avoid getting the Mi A1. However, this is a very subjective topic as some may be the fan of MiUI while some may not like me! I personally love having stock android on my device.
