Underwater Fluorescence - Phosphorescent Sea Pens

Описание к видео Underwater Fluorescence - Phosphorescent Sea Pens

Phosphorescent sea pens belong to the same phylum as anemones, corals, and jellyfish. These unusual creatures are actually animals and each sea pen is a colony of individual polyps.
They have the ability to produce their own light (bioluminescence) when agitated but they can also give off light via biofluorescence when exposed to blue (near-UV) light.

This footage was collected during a number of dives in Loch Leven, Scotland between April-July 2021.
