Hi, I'm Nancy Adcox with How To Care For Mom.

This is the 2nd part of a 5-part video series on phrases I use for easy communication with my elderly mom.

Today's phrase is:

"Good idea!"

One of the things I notice about my mom is that even though we live in her home, she doesn't always remember it's her home. So she's somewhat uncertain about even sitting down in her own recliner.

If mom says something like, "I think I'll sit in this recliner." I'll say, "Good Idea!"

If Mom asks, "Do I need a coat?" I'll say, "Good idea!"

So many of the things she says she really just needs a bit of encouragement.

Saying "Good idea" is a great way to do that.

Saying "Good idea" is an uplifter. It's better than, "Yes."

So, when "Good idea" will work in a place where you might have said, "Yes", then go ahead... that's a Good idea!
