Shark Behavior 101 with One Ocean Diving

Описание к видео Shark Behavior 101 with One Ocean Diving

At One Ocean Diving, one of our priories is studying shark behavior. Not only does this allow our safety divers to get to know the sharks better, but also allows us to help ensure the safety of the guests joining us. One of our research goals is also tracking and documenting Agonistic displays among competitive or assertive sharks to avoid negative shark/human interaction through peaceful observation. Core behaviors documented include chasing, following, parallel swimming, pectoral dropping, dorsal arching, jaw gaping, checking, gill popping.

Check out this awesome video by previous research intern @sarahdetmering that covers some the main behaviors we document. A better understanding of the sharks behavior, their intentions and what they are trying to communicate often helps alleviate some of the fear that comes along with diving with sharks for the firs time, and we hope this information helps change your fear to fascination!
