Peshawar is a very old city that dates back to 539 BCE. is one of the oldest cities in the world. The place is near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, hence there is a visible mix of culture and traditions.

There are many Afghans in this video, some selling and some buying. Visibly, there were not many women in the market due to their customs and traditions. Peshawar therefore has a very distinct Afghan flavor specially in the Board Market because of its North West location and close proximity to the country of Afghanistan.

Peshawar is primarily populated by Pashtuns, who comprise the second-largest ethnic group in the country. The census counted the population to about 2.3 million, making it the 6th most populated city in Pakistan. Peshawar remained an important center on trade routes between India and Central Asia. The Peshawar region was a cosmopolitan region in which goods, peoples, and ideas would pass along trade routes.

Peshawar was once part of British India. In 1947, Peshawar became part of the newly created state of Pakistan. Peshawar is overwhelmingly Muslim, with Muslims making up 98.5% of the city's population
