The Paris Agreement established the Global Stocktake (GST) as a periodic process to review the ambition of climate action. The first GST is held in 2022 and 2023 and is of critical importance to assess progress in the implementation of the Paris Agreement and its broader societal objectives.



In light of this, CIEL organized a webinar to inform stakeholders about the process and the importance of and possibilities for human rights integration in the GST. The webinar discussed the opportunities for governments, UN agencies, civil society, and Indigenous Peoples representatives to provide input to ensure that human rights dimensions and other important aspects of climate action are fully considered when assessing national climate action and progress towards meeting the Paris Agreement goals.
