Hawkins shuttles to a planet where Colonel Cross is over-seeing the construction of a base. Cross notices Hawkins seems edgy, and the Commander cuts to the chase. He explains how he doesn't think it's right for them to be building there as the Drules consider that sector of space their private area. Cross reasons that they're only using the base as a supply headquarters while they explore that area of space - it's not permanent. But Hawkins fears the Drules won't understand and order an all-out attack on the base. Cross suggests Hawkins meet with Hazar and convince him otherwise.

Meanwhile, Hazar confers with Brack, Mongo and Nerok about the base and whether or not he should hear out the Alliance in talks. Brack is 100% against any negotiation and wants to rid quadrant B of the Alliance once and for all. Hazar is starting to think that the Drules and the Alliance have similar goals now and that it might be more beneficial to stop fighting and draining resources in favor of cooperating with them. Mongo agrees that it won't hurt to talk with them and leaves. Brack, of course, is thoroughly disgusted.
