Aviso Ransomware is a highly malicious computer infection whose purpose is to encrypt your files and demand that you pay money to get them decrypted. Your computer can become infected with it if you open the malicious file that comes attached to spam emails sent by this ransomware’s developers. It consists of three files that are dropped in %TEMP%\Sisem. The first file is named Sims.exe, the second one is Sims.exe.bat, and the third one is Sims.exe.lnk. Sims.exe is the main executable and Sims.exe.bat is a batch file that has a 300-second delay and then runs the main executable after a successful infection. Sims.exe.lnk is a shortcut of Sims.exe, so it does not do anything. Aviso Ransomware encrypts the files only in the %UserProfile% folder. It uses the AES encryption method and appends the files with the word “Lock.” at the beginning of the name. Once the encryption is complete, it will change the desktop wallpaper to an image that features the ransom note in Portuguese. The ransom note demands that you pay 2000 Brazilian Reais (an approximate 620 USD) for your files to be decrypted. However, we do not recommend that you pay.
