In this age of rapid technological advancements, science has become a cornerstone of human progress. However, under the influence of capitalism, science often finds itself exploited for profit rather than for the betterment of humanity. This exploitation manifests in several forms, from prioritizing commercially viable research to disregarding ethical concerns in pursuit of financial gain.

For instance, pharmaceutical companies focus on treatments for high-profit illnesses rather than addressing neglected diseases that affect impoverished populations. Similarly, innovations in technology, such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, are frequently leveraged for surveillance and manipulation rather than social progress. Environmental science, too, faces suppression when findings challenge the interests of powerful industries like fossil fuels.

This misuse of science raises critical questions: Who controls scientific research, and for whose benefit? How can we ensure that scientific advancements are used ethically and equitably? The answer lies in reimagining the relationship between science and society—shifting from a profit-driven model to one that prioritizes collective welfare and sustainability.
