“Welcome to the Brookline College nursing program. I’m one of the students here, and we’re going to show you what to expect.
This is Anatomy/Physiology II, a prerequisite before starting nursing classes.
And this is our nursing class.
Here in the lab, we use practices to master our clinical skills, such as IVs, catheters, and injections.
This is our nursing skills lab. These clients are treated like real, live patients, and we learn a lot of skills from this lab.
This is health assessment lab. Here, we learn the hands-on skills of doing a system by system assessment. We deliver patient-centered care using a holistic approach, and today, I’m a patient.
Here at Brookline College, we use DocuCare, which is an electronic health record, to document our lab experience.
This is our simulation lab, where we practice with mannequins over everything we’ve learned in our 15 months at this program. They have pulses, breath sounds, heart sounds, and they even talk to us.
Here in the OB simulation room, we can actually talk with the mannequin and also get a full set of vitals on her, as well as see the fetal heart rate on the monitor. We can deliver her in all different types of positions – breech, head-first. We see what she needs and go from there.
Alright, this is capstone. We’re in our final semester. We take all of our knowledge and skills and put everything into play. Being our last semester, this is it, and we’re getting thrown into the real world. So, here we go…
