Smoke Gets In Your Eyes performed on Alto Saxophone by Brian Hayes

Written by Jerome Kern and Otto Harbach in 1933 this famous melody has become a classic Torch Song from The Great American Songbook.

It is played here as an instrumental on a beautiful Selmer (Paris) Mark VII Alto Saxophone from the 1970s. A beautiful string arrangement supports the acoustic quartet of piano, bass, guitar and drums.

The video demonstrates the largely lost art of playing a melody simply with good tone and emotional connection to the meaning of the composition.
