Beta diversity can be defined as the variability among communities and is commonly employed in freshwater studies. My talk is a brief introduction to beta diversity definition; popular dissimilarity indexes; beta diversity components (turnover and nestedness); local and species contribution to beta diversity (LCBD and SCBD); temporal beta diversity (TBI) (theory and practice in the R program).

Functional diversity is a comprehensive topic and there are several metrics/indexes that measure it, therefore, my talk is a brief introduction to the concepts of functional diversity, functional traits, and the most used metrics that compute functional diversity.
