The stage of Inlet Theatre in Port Moody became a place of convergence — where the drumbeats of First Nations traditions met the melodic strains of Korean folk and contemporary artistry. On November 1 2025, the event titled ‘Drumbeats & Arirang’ brought together Indigenous and Korean musicians, dancers, and storytellers in a celebration of cultural harmony.

From the opening land-acknowledgement to the final notes of pansori and warrior song, audience members witnessed more than performance — they witnessed dialogue, heritage, and unity unfolding in real time.

Under the roof of the Inlet theatre, the rhythms and voices invited us to honour the past, engage the present, and imagine a future defined by connection. On-stage, Korean gayageum and drums found resonance with Indigenous songs and stories; off-stage, the gathering opened pathways of respect and understanding.

Tonight, we share how this cross-cultural concert reached beyond entertainment to become a bridge between communities — a lively testament that, when we listen and honour one another’s histories, we move closer together.
