Tying our World Together: Gathering Dogbane

Описание к видео Tying our World Together: Gathering Dogbane

Nevada Stories goes into the field to learn about harvesting and preparing plants for native crafts.
Dogbane is a plant traditionally used in making cordage for rabbit nets and other uses by the Paiute People of northern Nevada.
It has been widely used by Native Americans for thousands of years, and well preserved ancient examples were found in Lovelock Cave, a famous archaeological site.
Here Donna Cossette and her mother Carol Sanders spend a morning gathering and working with Dogbane in their Paiute tradition near Fallon Nevada. They are accompanied by folklorist Patricia A. Atkinson.
