In South Korea, protesters have reacted after investigators abandoned their attempt to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol. The arrest was halted due to a standoff with Yoon’s security team, citing safety concerns. Yoon, suspended from office by lawmakers, would be the first sitting president in South Korean history to be arrested if the warrant was executed. The failed attempt follows a controversial martial law declaration from Yoon in December 2023, which shocked the country.
