One more Bonsai project with a Juniperus bought from a local nursery.

For the substrate I used around 1/3 of kanuma, akadama and lava rock. For the remaining 2/3 I used peat moss and compost from my bin.

You don’t have to take all the soil from the plant, it’s safer if you don’t do it!

While working on the roots remember to never let them go completely dry. Use a water spray to keep it humid.

Be aware when pruning the roots, you need to keep the leafs balanced with the roots. If you take too much roots a portion of your leafs might dry out or you might kill the tree.
