American singer song writer, artist, actress and poet Jewel began her career singing and yodeling with her father as a teenager in rural Alaska. In 1995 she signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records who released her first album, "Pieces of You". The album went on to become one of the best selling debut albums of all time going 12 times platinum. Since her humble beginnings she has gone on to sell over 30 million records world wide and has received four Grammy award nominations. Jewel has released music in multiple genres including folk, country rock and pop and in 1999 she starred in Ang Lee's film "Ride with the Devil."
In this rare interview Jewel talks about growing up in her hometown of Homer, Alaska, how she was discovered playing in clubs and coffee houses in California, her many influences and how she dealt with enormous fame and critical praise at such an early age.
