The song was written 5 months after a remarkable 6-week, over 3,000 mile roundtrip solo road trip through several western U.S. states and 2 Canada provinces in the months July-August 1982. The states were: Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. While in Canada I visited provincial parks in the rocky mountains of Alberta and British Columbia. I thought about using a number of scenic photos for this upload, but decided against it because I want the listener to imagine or recall his/her own travels, what they saw, people they met, etc.
The first verse contains the lyrics: "There are people living in their own philosophy, in the city, in the country too" attests to the diversity in people I met along my travels-some very colorful and often unforgettable characters. Some of these people were very generous when I'd play for tips on a street corner, others would stare at me like I was some sort of "Lone Wolf" fool! Enjoy!
