Here's another hot arrangement from the Semper Phonograph Company's catalogue, a recording of the famous Chicago South Side piece "Messin' Around". The tune was made famous by the likes of Freddie Keppard and the Doc Cooke Gingersnaps on Okeh Truetone, but was also recorded by many greats like Fess Williams and His Royal Flush Orchestra, Jimmy Lytell, Joe Candullo and His Everglades Orchestra, and others.

The intro is done in a hot combo style with trombone and alto breaks. The sax then takes the chorus with cornet and trombone countermelodies. This is followed by a cornet and trombone duet over the verse. Then a hot soprano saxophone solo follows this, with hot playing from the banjo and piano behind. The final chorus is a real hot section, with an Armstrong style break from the cornet and breaks from the drums and banjo, before the band takes it home. A simple yet hot arrangement. Enjoy!
