Gabon has recently acquired several Chinese-made WMA301 armored vehicles, joining a growing list of African countries utilizing this versatile military asset. These vehicles were prominently displayed during Gabon's Independence Day parade on August 17, 2024, in Libreville. Alongside the WMA301, the parade featured other new military acquisitions, including Chinese Norinco WMA301 and WZ551 armored vehicles, Emirati Inkas Titan S vehicles, and four Russian-made Spartak AMN-590951 armored vehicles. The expanded armored fleet will be used by both the Gabonese Army and the influential Republican Guard, led by Gabon’s junta leader, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
