Taal Volcano is a large complex volcano filled with Taal lake located on Luzon island in the Philippines, and is in the province of Batangas. From Tagaytay Taal Volcano and Lake presents one of the most picturesque views in the Philippines. The city has about 50000 inhabitants and is located about 60 kilometres south of the capital Manila. We visited 2019 Taal, where the biggest catholic church in Asia is situated. The Basilica of St. Martin of Tours was first built in 1575 and destroyed in 1754 in the largest documented eruption of the Taal volcano to date, as was the city of Taal.
On the afternoon of January 12, 2020 the peaceful scene was suddenly interrupted by a torrent of hot ash and gas. Flights were cancelled, schools and other public institutions closed, and tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from both the volcanic isle within Lake Taal and from the vast shorelines around it.
